Introduction to the Chengming Hot-Melt Adhesive Museum in Dongguan City

视频标题

Dongguan CO-MO Adhesive Co., Ltd. operates China’s first hot-melt adhesive museum, a public‑interest project funded and built by the company. Located in the CO-MO Science and Technology Park in Gaobu Town, Dongguan, the museum was completed and opened on August 1, 2015. Registered with the Dongguan Municipal Administration of Social Organizations as a non‑enterprise social organization, the museum is a member of the Dongguan Museum Alliance and a base for popularizing social sciences in Dongguan. It is also filed with the Guangdong Provincial Museum Association and serves as a spiritual home for professionals in China’s hot-melt adhesive industry.

The museum’s permanent exhibition, “Hot-Melt Adhesives Everywhere,” is divided into eleven sections and houses over 400 items related to the hot-melt adhesive industry, offering significant cultural, historical, and educational value.

The museum actively conducts science‑education outreach on adhesion, establishing “museum–school partnerships” with numerous schools. To date, it has organized more than 70 sessions of adhesive‑related science lectures and hands‑on workshops, benefiting over 4,000 participants. The museum also curates thematic exhibitions, creating a dedicated educational hub for labor education, aesthetic education, and science instruction for primary and secondary school students, thereby putting into practice its mission of cultural heritage preservation and educational dissemination.

This institution has advanced theoretical development in the industry by compiling and publishing the “Handbook of New Adhesive Technologies and Applications (2nd Edition)” and by promoting the publication of technical monographs such as “Hot-Melt Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive Technology and Applications” and “Hot-Melt Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives and Their Rheology,” thereby filling critical gaps in domestic industry theory.

The original mission of this museum is to chronicle the history of China’s hot-melt adhesive industry, map its current landscape, conduct research on related topics, showcase hot-melt adhesive culture, and disseminate relevant knowledge—providing a platform for industry professionals, enthusiasts of bonding technology, faculty and students in chemical engineering institutions, and the general public to gain insight into China’s hot-melt adhesive sector and to foster the industry’s continued growth and advancement.
