My hometown lies in the Qinling Mountains, where there’s a place tucked away deep in the mountains called Dongzhen. In fact, Dongzhen isn’t a town at all—it’s a township. Within the township runs an ancient stone‑paved street, and at its head stands a stone bridge. On this side of the bridge is my home, while on the other side is the school I attended as a child. Every day, I crossed that stone bridge, and it became the indispensable path I took to get to school.
